I know, I know... I'm a little loooong overdue for an outfit post for you guys.  Honestly, I sold so many clothes before I moved that I feel like I've hardly had anything to wear.  While I've wanted nothing more than to just go on a crazy shopping spree for new pieces, I've been focusing on getting our apartment settled (read as: I don't want to go broke the first month I'm here!).  We're subletting a mostly furnished place, but there have been several things that we needed to pick up to make it suitable for us.  Other than finding a fabulous make-up organizer (any suggestions?!), I'm basically settled in. So for now, I'm working on remixing my closet the best I can.  While I've styled this shirt here and this blazer here, this skirt is a piece that you haven't seen before and it's actually been hanging out in my closet for several months.  It was a clearance find at Target maybe from as far back as December and I just took the tags off of it this weekend!  Thank goodness for old purchases that feel like new ones during times like these!

Speaking of shopping, did you pick up any of the Phillip Lim for Target pieces yesterday?!  I didn't get up early to head to a store or stalk the website for it to be released, but when I did finally wake up I decided to treat myself just a smidge.  The black medium satchel hadn't sold out online and, well, I really did need a new bag (No, really!  I did!) so I ordered that one for me and also the men's backpack in black for Tyler.  He's really been into the backpack trend and thought it would be the perfect accessory for traveling to and from work.  We were pretty pumped that we didn't have to get out of bed and we got free shipping! Phillip Lim ftw!

Rehearsal Dinner

Dress: Alfred Sung (c/o Geno's Formal Affair) // Belt: Vintage
Shoes: Audrey Brooke (old, DSW) // Earrings: Forever 21
Photographed by Tyler

This past weekend was a whirlwind of perfection.
These photos are from my outfit at Friday night's Rehearsal Dinner.
This dress is actually a bridesmaid dress!  So cute, right?!  This is proof
than you can wear a bridesmaid dress for more than just a wedding!  I
added the vintage belt to give it a little flair and then added the rest of the
accessories to go with the belt.  Easy! Oh, and did you notice my tan?!
I don't get a spray tan very often but I thought my bestie's wedding
was a perfect occasion.  I'm going to make an effort to keep it up
this summer - let's see how it goes!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend as well!
I'll see if I can get a few pictures up from the wedding
soon! Until then, you can see a few I've already posted
on my Instagram - @opalandviolet!

Yes, I know I have a problem: I'm addicted to black & white stipes.
You've seen them in a blazer here, a top here, and in another top here & here
I've even used them in my Friday's Fancies posts here and here.  Don't worry,
there will be more where this came from - I just can't get enough!!

Hope you're all off to a great week!

Preppy Pops

Cardi: Old Navy (old, similar here) // Tank: Old Navy // Pants: J.Crew
Scarf: PacSun (old) // Shoes: r2 (old, Macy's) // Bag: Forever 21 (old)
Lips: Maybelline 'Fuchsia Fever' & L.A. Colors Lipgloss 'Red Alert'

I wanted to make an effort to include some Valentine hues
into each of my looks this week.  Yesterday I went for a subtle approach by adding
just a couple pops of fuchsia on my nails and lips - two of my favorite places to add color!  Adding green gave the look a slightly preppy vibe and then I added in my favorite color combo - black & white -  to keep the whole look balanced.  I know it's a little early, but
this outfit is essentially an outfit meant for transitioning into Spring.  I'm so ready
for the warmer weather!  Is anyone else with me?

I was so excited to finally pick up this Tracy Reese
top at Target on Wednesday!  There weren't tons of pieces of the Neiman Marcus collaboration that I really loved, but this was definitely one.  Call me cheap, but I knew it wouldn't take long for Target to mark the collection down so I just practiced my patience skills and popped in the day it went 70% off!  I mean, $23.99 for a $79 top?!  You just can't beat that!  And I couldn't believe how perfect my Forever 21 blazer went with it!  I'm
sure you all aren't too surprised though; we Kentucky girls always have some
great royal blue pieces in our wardrobe!  Go Cats! ;)

I hope you all aren't too exhausted from all the shopping you've been
doing the last couple of days!! I managed to somehow keep my shopping to a minimun
and just went out for a couple of hours yesterday to finish up my Christmas list.  If you
happened to spot me in Fayette Mall yesterday, this was the outfit I was wearing.  My J.Crew
Pixie pants are basically a life essential for me.  Seriously, if you don't own a pair, you MUST
buy them asap!  They are such a great improvement from your classic legging.  These are
thicker (read: actually covers your behind), warmer, and so stinking cute.  There is even an
exposed zipper on the back!  I'm thinking of getting this new style that has fab leather panels
on the inner leg; they're such a great way to transition the winter leather trend into your
everyday wardrobe!  So you should probably go order your Pixies today and take advantage
of J.Crew's Cyber Monday offer of 25% off and free shipping with code MONDAY!!
I promise, you'll fall in love with them!

I'm excited to announce that I've got a little treat ready
for a giveaway tomorrow!  Be sure to come by and check it out!

I'm so excited that I finally made it out to Keeneland!
We braved the cold weather on Saturday to place a couple bets, spend time with
friends, and get some of the most yummy hot chocolate I've ever had!  Seriously!!
While I was bummed about the weather being so cold, the light at the end of the
tunnel for me was knowing I would get to indulge in that fabulous hot chocolate!

When I first started planning my outfit for the day,
I had no idea it was going to get so cold, so I just kept adding layers and layers
to my look.  This is basically the most clothes I've ever worn at one time!  And then
I started adding on the jewelry and just couldn't stop!  I just had to wear my new
Versona Accessories necklace that I purchased with the gift card I won over at
Lex What Wear!  I hadn't heard of this amazing new store that opened in the Hamburg
area here in Lexington until I saw the giveaway on LWW and, you guys, this store is amazing!! There are so many incredible pieces.  I couldn't stop with just using my gift
card; I also bought 2other necklaces and 3 bracelets (2 of the bracelets are pictured with
my watch).  Everything is so reasonably priced (statement necklaces for $10, $15, & $25!!) - it's definitely a new MUST on my shopping excursions!!
Thanks again, Lex What Wear!!

I went to dinner with my hubby and my father-in-law last night
and pulled some of the key pieces from my closet to wear.  This time of the
year, there isn't much I love more than a great pair of cords.  These navy ones are
perfect because the color is so rich and they give a little texture to the outfit.  The Tippi sweater from J.Crew is always my go-to sweater.  It's soft, lightweight, and can be worn
all year round.  They are also produced all year in an assortment of colors so it can be
easy for your collection of them to grow!  My leopard loafers are my favorite!  It's hard for
me to find an outfit that they don't go with.  I mean, a pop of leopard is always appropriate, right?!  The final piece of the look (aside from the accessories of course!) is the blazer.  Blazers are such a great element to have in your closet! I have them in several colors
(and want several more!) because they are an easy way to add polish to a normal outfit.
Do you keep any of my key pieces in your closet?
