I know, I know... I'm ~~a little~~ loooong overdue for an outfit post for you guys. Honestly, I sold so many clothes before I moved that I feel like I've hardly had anything to wear. While I've wanted nothing more than to just go on a crazy shopping spree for new pieces, I've been focusing on getting our apartment settled (read as: I don't want to go broke the first month I'm here!). We're subletting a mostly furnished place, but there have been several things that we needed to pick up to make it suitable for us. Other than finding a fabulous make-up organizer (any suggestions?!), I'm basically settled in. So for now, I'm working on remixing my closet the best I can. While I've styled this shirt here and this blazer here, this skirt is a piece that you haven't seen before and it's actually been hanging out in my closet for several months. It was a clearance find at Target maybe from as far back as December and I just took the tags off of it this weekend! Thank goodness for old purchases that feel like new ones during times like these!

Speaking of shopping, did you pick up any of the Phillip Lim for Target pieces yesterday?! I didn't get up early to head to a store or stalk the website for it to be released, but when I did finally wake up I decided to treat myself just a smidge. The black medium satchel hadn't sold out online and, well, I really did need a new bag (No, really! I did!) so I ordered that one for me and also the men's backpack in black for Tyler. He's really been into the backpack trend and thought it would be the perfect accessory for traveling to and from work. We were pretty pumped that we didn't have to get out of bed and we got free shipping! Phillip Lim ftw!

My sweet best friend Lauren hosted a

going away dinner for Tyler, Ricky, and I at her

house over the weekend. I'm still a few weeks away

from moving but I'm already getting pretty emotional

at the thought of moving so far away from friends that

and family that are so dear to my heart. I'm just

trying to make the best of the rest of my

time with them.

I took to TJ Maxx a few weeks back. I fell in love

with the bold black stripes instantly but fell for it even

harder when I realized that it reverses into a fun floral

print. What makes it even better? It was only $15!

Yes really! It was an easy choice for a great

dinner with great friends!

Friday's Fancies: Short + Sweet

First things first: I could cry because I lost
my mind last week and didn't get my Friday's Fancies
post up. There was SO MUCH hustle and bustle with
traveling and move planning and everything else that I
totally just failed. I am, however, totally back on my game
and excited about this week's theme: Shorts! I'm sure
you're wondering why I'm excited because, as you all know,
I never wear shorts. Well, that's what I love about Friday's
Fancies. It's a place for me to dream about outfits I can't
afford and that I sometimes have no where in the world to
ever wear them. If I had great legs, this would be the perfect
shorts outfit for me. It has my favorite elements: black and
white, pop of color, and comfort. Yes, this is the exact
outfit I'll be dreaming of wearing this weekend!

I love to find great clothes at unexpected places.

This Kmart top was about $4 and such an easy piece to

add a little texture and style to a simple outfit. I've been

hearing some people say they've found some cute items

there recently so I'm definitely making it a mission to go

check out the current selection asap! Do you have any

Friday's Fancies: Summer's Here!

So I have something to admit to you!
The reason I've had a severe lack of outfit posts this
week is because I got what feels like a million bug bites on
my legs at the wedding I went to last weekend. Why don't I
just wear pants?! Great question! I actually have been, but
as you know, I've been in such a skirt mood lately! This is
the time that some fabulous maxi skirts & dresses would
really come in hand... but I don't have any! I want them
- I really do - but I can never find them long enough to
satisfy me. I don't want to show my ankles! Is that too
much to ask?! Rachel Zoe never shows her ankles
when she wears a maxi!!

So yes, with Summer being officially here,
the only thing currently on my wish list is a few fabulous
maxi skirts and dresses. Make it a black and white striped
one and you know I'm happy! Be sure to check out all the

First of all - please excuse the scowl on my face! The sun was super cray

and it didn't leave me much choice since I left my trusty Ray-Bans at home!

I know you've been hearing it a lot from me recently, but I'm super obsessed

with skirts right now. I mean, I just can't get enough! If I'm not searching online

for my next perfect one then I'm totally drooling on ones seen on other bloggers

(you should check out my friend Chioma's skirts - they're seriously amazing and

lots of them are gorgeous thrifted pieces!). This pleated floral number (that I

showed a little teaser of on my Instagram earlier this week) is another recent

purchase from Loft and was on super sale. I loved pairing it with this neon

striped tee (yes, I bought the same tee in like 5 colors!) for some subtle

pattern mixing. Overall this summery outfit was such an easy look and

crazy comfortable!

You all know my love of black and white stripes.

I just can't get enough! I'm sure you can imagine my excitement

when I came across this Loft skirt last week! At 40% off, it was a

no brainer decision to add this much needed piece to my wardrobe.

I have to say though, if I don't start buying some nonstripe items soon,

I'm going to start running out of outfit options! You can only mix

black and white stripes so much! ;)

Sometimes all you need is that one last accessory

to really pull an outfit together. I was at work when someone

jokingly grabbed this hat from a display and sat it on my head.

Although it was not intended to be the final piece to my look

that day, it was just the perfect finishing touch. I can't even

imagine how boring these photos would have been without

the hat! It's definitely such a great reminder to think through

your accessory choices for your outfits. One more great

accessory can really make your look!

Friday's Fancies: Stripes!

I'm not sure if I've ever loved a shirt more than I love this one.
It's basically perfect and I'm completely dreaming of adding it to my
collection. While I can think of a million ways to style it, today I've
featured it in a look full of a little frill and a lot of color blocking.
Yes, this would be my perfect weekend outfit.. and my perfect
weekday one, too! Why does my bank account always
have to burst my bubble though?! :(
