Cozy Casual

cozy fall 2014

Sweater // Denim // Backpack // Lipstick // Boots // Hat

The weather in New York was not playing around yesterday.  The temps just decided to drop overnight and BAM it was Fall!  Too bad I didn't check the weather [that's nothing new though]; my bare legs were freezing during my commute both to and from work.  While walking in a cold, cold misery, I just couldn't help but dream of being bundled up in a cozy Fall look. So, today for your viewing pleasure, I bring you my perfect cozy casual outfit that will be perfect for you to snuggle in next weekend!

Looking for other great backpack options?  Check out this post!

Apartment Hunting

Old Navy jacket (similiar)
Old Navy cardi (similiar)
Loft top (blue version here)
Phillip Lim for Target bag (hauled here)

Photographed by: Tyler

Unfortunately, there's not much time for outfit photos in my life these days. To update you all, our bestie Ricky moved back to Kentucky a couple weeks ago (we miss you!!) and he was my go-to photographer. So basically mine and Tyler's schedules have to miraculously line up for us to have a day off together so that we can shoot outfits.  Thankfully, we had that perfect day happen yesterday and we snapped these pics while checking out an apartment on the Upper East Side. Yes, I was apartment hunting while wearing leopard print and fox fur - total coincidence but we enjoyed a good laugh from it! ha! But yes, we're trying to find the perfect place to move to in just a couple weeks and fingers crossed that yesterday's apartment was just that!  We're working on our application right now and will hopefully know something early next week!

I hope you have all had a fantastic week!!

Party Dress

Dress: TJ Maxx // Shoes: JCP (similar
Earrings: H&M (old) // Bag: Jessica Simpson
Lips: Maybelline 'Coral Crush' // Hat: Forever 21
Photography by: Rachel Ramey

My sweet best friend Lauren hosted a
going away dinner for Tyler, Ricky, and I at her
house over the weekend.  I'm still a few weeks away
from moving but I'm already getting pretty emotional
at the thought of moving so far away from friends that
and family that are so dear to my heart.  I'm just
trying to make the best of the rest of my
time with them.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you'll
remember this dress from a little shopping trip
I took to TJ Maxx a few weeks back.  I fell in love
with the bold black stripes instantly but fell for it even
harder when I realized that it reverses into a fun floral
print.  What makes it even better?  It was only $15!
Yes really!  It was an easy choice for a great
 dinner with great friends!

Lately..

Top: J.Crew Factory (similar) // Skirt: Loft (in stores!)
Hat: H&M // Belt: Unknown (old) // Bracelet: J.Crew
Bag: Liz Claiborne (vintage) // Sandals: Target

If you follow me in Instagram then you've captured a little
glimpse into my busy last few days.  Lots of traveling and events
have unfortunately kept me from getting you some real outfit photos
for you. I hope this blurry iPhone pic from yesterday will get us
through until my life slows down!  Until then, here's a little
recap of my busy last few days!

Thursday 6.27: Dinner with Chioma from
in a Sequined Life!   I just loved spending time with these
fabulous Lexington girls!  I really think we could've
talked fashion and blogging all night long!

Friday 6.28: My BFF's Birthday!  Ricky turned
28 and once I got off work we headed out to watch
Man of Steel.  While it wasn't my favorite superhero
movie by any means, but it was definitely a great
movie!  I totally recommend checking it out!

Saturday 6.29: Fall Out Boy!  Tyler and I
took Ricky on a little weekend getaway to Indy
for a FOB concert!  They really put on a fantastic
show!  Tyler counted this concert as his 14th time
seeing them (just mine and Ricky's 2nd!) and he
thinks it was the best they've ever sounded!

Sunday 6.30: Travel!  We had a very
leisurely Sunday so after a late breakfast we picked
up a few can'tlivewithout pieces at Loft and H&M
before we hit the road.  Our trip home was not complete
until we made a trip by the J.Crew Factory store in
Edinburgh and *gasp* I didn't buy anything!  I
promise I'm trying really hard to be good!

Monday 7.1: Pageant!  I traveled to
Lincoln County, Kentucky to help/support my
friend Hailey in her pageant and I'm happy to report
that she brought home the crown!  The photo above
is my outfit from the pageant featuring my new Loft
skirt and H&M hat.  Yes, you're going to be seeing
a LOT of that hat. Sorry in advance! ;)

Now to catch up on all the laundry!
Hope you're all having a wonderful week!!

Friday's Fancies: Beach Ready!

Friday's Fancies: Beach Ready!

Swimsuit // Towel // Sunscreen // Polish // Hat // Bag

I must start by saying that my Friday's Fancies posts
are meant to be a sort of "wishful thinking" approach to styling
myself.  Mostly that means I disregard all prices and create outfits
that I would just love to wear.  Well, today's is no exception, however,
this week I not only ignored the cost but also the fact that I never (ever!)
wear a swimsuit!  Yes, I'm basically the only person in the world that
doesn't enjoy a summer full of beaches and pooltime.  It's just not my
thing!  However, if I were to be a beach bunny then this would
be my ideal look.  And you better believe that my key summer
accessory is sunscreen!  Protect that gorgeous skin, y'all!

I'm headed to Indianapolis tomorrow to see Fall Out Boy
with Tyler and our bff Ricky!  We are so excited!!  You know
what else is exciting?!  Today is Ricky's birthday!! Yay!!
Happy Birthday, bestie!! xo

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

Top It Off

Sandals: Katie & Kelly (old, similar) // Clutch: K.Slademade (other colors here)
Hat: Geno's Formal Affair // Watch: Michael Kors // Lips: MAC 'Heartless'

Sometimes all you need is that one last accessory
to really pull an outfit together.  I was at work when someone
jokingly grabbed this hat from a display and sat it on my head.
Although it was not intended to be the final piece to my look
that day, it was just the perfect finishing touch.  I can't even
imagine how boring these photos would have been without
the hat!  It's definitely such a great reminder to think through
your accessory choices for your outfits.  One more great
accessory can really make your look!

Sometimes I forget what color my hair is until I put an outfit like this
together and it completely blends in with what I'm wearing.  Oh well!
At least my hair is that perfect shade of auburn and it blends perfectly with
that generic bobby pin shade!  That's one way to look at it, right?! ;) I just
couldn't wait any longer to break out a few of those great Target finds I was
telling you about in this post.  The shoes were only $15 and the hat was
only $6!  I sure do love an end-of-season sale!  Also, I'm finally showing off
my gorgeous clutch from K.slademade!  You may remember when I featured
them as part of my Christmas gift guide in this post.  Well, my mom was
so kind as to order me one of my own for Christmas!  Thanks Mom!!

I'm so sorry for the lack of outfit posts lately.  My life has been a little
crazy with the busy season at work beginning (PROM!) and losing daylight
at such an early hour.  Hopefully I'll get in the swing of things soon because
I have so many outfits that I'm eager to share!  I promise to do better! :)

Maybe I'm a little late on this because, strangely, it has been
a couple of weeks since I was in Target, but I went a little wild during my
shopping trip yesterday with all of the crazy good markdowns they have right now!
Nearly all of the goods I've been eyeing over the last couple of months are 50-70% off!  I primarily shopped accessories, so I thought I should share the shopping tip with you guys!  I picked up nearly all the shoes in the first set (and might still go back for what I didn't get!) and the awesome gold bag in the second set.  I found a fabulous fur infinity scarf and a leopard floppy hat, too, but couldn't find them online.  So, basically, you need to run to Target to scoop up these deals ASAP and peep their spring collections -
the pastels and the neons are incredible!!

Happy Monday!!

No, this isn't a post on how to make a delicious stuffing for your
Thanksgiving dinner.  This is, however, a post to give you some inspiration on what
to wear when you are stuffed after eating your Thanksgiving dinner! Once you've dressed
up and taken your nice family photos, do yourself a favor and grab a pair of leggings, an oversized t-shirt, and the most comfortable pair of shoes you own.  When you drift off into the most amazing nap of your life you'll be so thankful that you rid yourself of those constricting tights and that gorgeous high waisted skirt.  Comfort is definitely key when it comes to holiday eating.  Well, that and a gym membership! ;)

I took some inspiration from my Halloween costume
to add a little glam to my outfit today.  A fun hat, big sunnies, and a
wine lip were some of the classic Rachel Zoe staples that I just to break
out of my closet.  I hope you are off to a great week!!

My friends and I celebrated Halloween this past Saturday night
by having a little costume party.  We're pretty easy going people, so
some good food, conversation, and games made the evening perfect.
I hadn't dressed up for Halloween since I was a kid, so I had to do something
glamorous and fun.  Who better to dress up as than my idol, Rachel Zoe?
I've always thought that my husband sometimes resembles Rachel's fab
husband, Rodger, so our duo was quickly complete.  The best part about
dressing as RZ?  I can reuse all of the items I purchased in real life!!
I'm already planning to wear that fur vest asap!  I have to admit, the
hardest part of getting into the role was not smiling during pics!
Try it! It's so hard!!

Happy Halloween!

I'm so excited that I finally made it out to Keeneland!
We braved the cold weather on Saturday to place a couple bets, spend time with
friends, and get some of the most yummy hot chocolate I've ever had!  Seriously!!
While I was bummed about the weather being so cold, the light at the end of the
tunnel for me was knowing I would get to indulge in that fabulous hot chocolate!

When I first started planning my outfit for the day,
I had no idea it was going to get so cold, so I just kept adding layers and layers
to my look.  This is basically the most clothes I've ever worn at one time!  And then
I started adding on the jewelry and just couldn't stop!  I just had to wear my new
Versona Accessories necklace that I purchased with the gift card I won over at
Lex What Wear!  I hadn't heard of this amazing new store that opened in the Hamburg
area here in Lexington until I saw the giveaway on LWW and, you guys, this store is amazing!! There are so many incredible pieces.  I couldn't stop with just using my gift
card; I also bought 2other necklaces and 3 bracelets (2 of the bracelets are pictured with
my watch).  Everything is so reasonably priced (statement necklaces for $10, $15, & $25!!) - it's definitely a new MUST on my shopping excursions!!
Thanks again, Lex What Wear!!
