First of all - please excuse the scowl on my face! The sun was super cray
and it didn't leave me much choice since I left my trusty Ray-Bans at home!
I know you've been hearing it a lot from me recently, but I'm super obsessed
with skirts right now.  I mean, I just can't get enough!  If I'm not searching online
for my next perfect one then I'm totally drooling on ones seen on other bloggers
(you should check out my friend Chioma's skirts - they're seriously amazing and
lots of them are gorgeous thrifted pieces!).  This pleated floral number (that I
showed a little teaser of on my Instagram earlier this week) is another recent
purchase from Loft and was on super sale.  I loved pairing it with this neon
striped tee (yes, I bought the same tee in like 5 colors!) for some subtle
pattern mixing.  Overall this summery outfit was such an easy look and
crazy comfortable!

Keep up with Opal & Violet!

You all know my love of black and white stripes.
I just can't get enough!  I'm sure you can imagine my excitement
when I came across this Loft skirt last week!  At 40% off, it was
no brainer decision to add this much needed piece to my wardrobe.
have to say though, if I don't start buying some nonstripe items soon,
I'm going to start running out of outfit options!  You can only mix
black and white stripes so much! ;)

Today I'm linking up with Because Shanna Said So!

I'm totally obsessed with this color combination!
While I am all about wearing the typical "Fall colors" this time of year,
some days I just crave something a little brighter.  Most of the time that
includes turquoise but lately orange has been just as much of a go-to for me.
This classic, preppy look of a sweater layered over a button-up is great to wear
just about anywhere.  Try mixing these same pieces in different colors and
patterns for a sharp and easy variation that you can wear to work or play!
What are your favorite bold colors to wear?

I went to dinner with my hubby and my father-in-law last night
and pulled some of the key pieces from my closet to wear.  This time of the
year, there isn't much I love more than a great pair of cords.  These navy ones are
perfect because the color is so rich and they give a little texture to the outfit.  The Tippi sweater from J.Crew is always my go-to sweater.  It's soft, lightweight, and can be worn
all year round.  They are also produced all year in an assortment of colors so it can be
easy for your collection of them to grow!  My leopard loafers are my favorite!  It's hard for
me to find an outfit that they don't go with.  I mean, a pop of leopard is always appropriate, right?!  The final piece of the look (aside from the accessories of course!) is the blazer.  Blazers are such a great element to have in your closet! I have them in several colors
(and want several more!) because they are an easy way to add polish to a normal outfit.
Do you keep any of my key pieces in your closet?

Hip Hip Beret!

I'm not gonna lie, I've been dying for a sequin beret since I first
spotted Rachel Zoe wearing one seasons ago. When I was shopping in
Target last week and spotted it, well, let's just say it was a magical moment.
I love how versatile it is! It's just the perfect mix of both dressy and casual.
Here I paired it with comfy long sleeve tee and cotton blazer for a relaxed
took.  It will also look great with just a basic tee and jeans on my next day of
running errands.  And, I'm especially looking forward to pairing it with a great
skirt and top for a dressier look!  Do you like to wear sequins? How do
you incorporate them into your wardrobe?

You may remember that I had the opportunity to style my bestie, Lauren, a couple
of weeks ago for a wedding that she was attending.  She finally got to wear it
on Saturday and she looked so amazing!!  Continue reading to see for yourself!

Beauty Buy: Nyx Round Case Lipsticks

I have a little secret to share.
I don't [typically] wear expensive lipsticks.   Yes, that's right!  Most of my pops of color come from a tube that costs less than $4!  That is less than most lipsticks from your basic brands like Maybelline, Covergirl, and Revlon.  While I have a few favorites from MAC that I love dearly (and are still totally affordable at around $15), my absolute favorites are the Round Case Lipsticks by Nyx Cosmetics.  This great line of lipsticks comes in, get this, 144 shades!  No, I didn't mean 14 or even 44.  There are a whopping 144 shades!!  My absolute favorite is the one pictured above: Chic Red (seen here).  I also frequently wear Eros (seen here), Fire, and Rose.  While each shade seems to have it's own unique texture and coverage, my application method seems to always yield great results.  I apply, blot, and then reapply.  It leaves an even color and that base coat helps it last even longer.  Of course, using a coordinating liner to fill in the lip before applying will make the color last even longer,
but I usually skip that step since these colors don't bleed on the edges of my lips
(another major plus!).

So you may have already said "But Jordan, I can't pull off a bold lip like you!"
I know this because I hear that ALL THE TIME!  I'm here to tell you YES YOU CAN!
I did not always wear lipstick.  I was actually terrified of it for many years.  The simple truth is that I liked how it looked on other people and I decided I was going to wear it too.
YOU can do that.  I promise.  It might take a couple times to get used to it,
but it can be the new you just like it became the new me a few years ago.  If you have to,
start simple by introducing it only into your 'night out' looks.  Pretty soon you'll be ready
to wear it to work, class, the mall, the gym.. okay.. so maybe I'll have to stop you from wearing it to the gym!  Have confidence.  That's all it takes!

Feeling inspired to brighten up your look with one of these great colors?  Check them out at Ulta where you can often find them on sale!  I have been known to stock up on my favorite colors when they are 40% off (that's like $2.40 each!).  You can never have too many!  Currently, you can get free shipping with a $25 purchase (code 80582) and $10 off any $60 online purchase (code 89776).  Enjoy!
