Cold Shoulders

Oh hello there!  Thanks so much for all your kind words over my last post with Tobi!  Today I'm bringing you look #2 in this fun series of transitional season outfits! Now, I'm not sure if you're aware but - hold on to your hats - I turned 30 last November.  Okay, so you're probably not at all surprised (but my fingers are crossed that you are because I've been really investing in skincare lately!) but the point is not to draw attention to my fleeting youth but rather to make you aware that I'm getting a little old for mini-dresses.  Let's get real - it's not like I really wore mini dresses any.  But now that I'm venturing into this new decade I'm painfully aware of the youthful styles that I just can't conquer. As you've probably guessed already, this is where my handy pair of favorite denim comes in!  Yes ladies, this means you can buy those super cute mini dresses that you want to wear but know that it will barely cover your behind. Layer those bad boys over your favorite pair of jeans and suddenly you have a tunic that is perfect for this completely unpredictable spring weather! Brilliant, I know!

This was 100% the revelation I had while shopping on Tobi to pick out the styles I wanted to wear in collaboration with them.  I wanted to be true to myself and my own personal style to inspire you to do the same. While Tobi has lots of incredibly cute mini-dresses and rompers that are perfect for a 20-something, we 30-somethings can shop here, too! This dress is so amazing! The cold shoulder is completely on trend right now and could you just die over the little ties on the sleeves? Pro tip: have a girlfriend nearby if you plan to tie them in bows instead of just knotted. ;)  I highly recommend that you pop over and take a look at their cute collection of dresses and consider how you can creatively wear them with your wardrobe! I can't help but suggest this bell-sleeved black one and this lacy white one - they're both in my shopping cart right now!

Summer to Fall

Cole Haan shoes (similar)

Photographed by: Ricky Strong

I know I made the claim a few weeks ago that this dress was the perfect LBD for Summer, however, I'm now starting to think that it may just be perfect for Fall, too!  Layered with my new denim Uniqlo shirt, this dress transitions perfectly for the cooler weather that's hit.  And can I just say, NYC is so lovely right now.  I'm pretty sure I could deal with this amazing weather forever!

I wore this outfit over the weekend to get in a little shopping.  Maybe I was inspired by my Fall Wish List from Friday's post, but I just couldn't let any more time go by without picking up a few new pretties!  Look for a haul video to come later this week featuring all of my finds! Oh, and let me just add that I'm crazy in love with my new necklace from Brina Box!  If you don't already, be sure to follow their Instagram - they often post there about their daily deals which is how I scored this pretty for about $20 including shipping!

I love the flexibility of this skirt!  The first time I'd posted an outfit with it,
I went for a much more casual look using a bold, neon t-shirt (you can check out the post here). But today, I simply changed the top to a button-up and added a little sparkle in my accessories to make the skirt totally work appropriate. I really get the most use out of my wardrobe in that way. I've never been the type of person to distinguish my 'work clothes' from my 'play clothes' - with a few exceptions of course!  I love mixing and matching my wardrobe - which is something I've been working extra hard at lately as I've been trying to keep a close eye on our budget.  You'll hear more about it in a few weeks, but we have some pretty exciting things we're currently working on that have made us pinch our pennies for the time being.  I can't wait to tell you all about it!

I'm officially on a summer scarf kick.
I'm blaming Jayme & Mendi at Her Late Night Cravings because
Basically as soon I saw it I went on my usual everyotherday trip to Target
and scooped up this gorgeous floral scarf in their clearance section for
only 5 bucks!  Seriously!  I loved it so much I might have worn it
two days in a row.  Don't tell anyone! ;)

I'm also SUPER excited right now because I have
a new watch coming to me this week!  Yay!  You may remember
my watch post from several months ago where I was debating between
a few different beauties.  Well, I was just never able to get watch #1 out
of my head, so with a little help from my in-laws, I purchased it!  It
was just my luck that our local Macy's was out of the gold one,
but it should be delivered to me soon!  I can't wait!

I hope you all are having a wonderful week!!

I've been a little extra obsessed with Target recently.
To be exact, I've visited our local stores 3 times in the last 2 days.
What's my problem?!  And what's worse (if you can say that any of
it is a bad thing!) is that I search the entire store over every single
time as if I've never stepped inside a Target, ever.  I do always seem
to find something new and awesome though!  Today's outfit is nearly
head to toe Target with my top, skirt, and sandals all being recent
finds!  I loved mixing the texture of the lace with the bold pattern of
the polka dots.  And those glitter sandals, well, how did I not
already have those?!  Thanks to Whitley from Simply Whit
in a Sequined Life for the tip that they were available!
Get them before they're gone, guys!

Don't you just love how social media brings people together?!
Late last week I received a comment on an Instagram photo from
@whitschoop [aka Whitley of Simply Whit in a Sequined Life] asking
if I was from Lexington! Well, yes I am!  We were both so excited to
find another Lexington blogger (there aren't many of us!) that we quickly
scheduled a coffee date to meet!  So yesterday we spent a couple of
hours gabbing in Starbucks about life, love, shopping and blogging!
She is insanely sweet and has insane style!  You all should definitely
check out her adorbale blog for some serious style inspiration!

I love this t-shirt so stinking much.
I bought it for Tyler a while back but, honestly, I think I get
much more wear out of it than he does.  It just goes with everything.
I loved pairing it with my new comfy skirt that I picked up at Target
recently.  It's such a great, versatile print that I know I'll be remixing
all Spring and Summer long.  I'm definitely on the hunt for more
skirts this season.  If you have any recommendations be
sure to leave them in the comments below!!

Have a wonderful week guys!!

I'm sorry for blinding you with my bright white legs, but I just haven't
managed to break out the self-tanner yet! ;)  This is the look I chose for a
couple's shower that Tyler & I attended over the weekend for our friends
Megan & Lucien.  Their wedding is just over a month away and I am just
so incredibly excited for them and for all of the festivities!  My bridesmaid
dress is pretty fabulous and I really can't wait to share it with you!

This colorful tweed skirt practically jumped into my hands
while shopping at Target last week.  I know I'm supposed to be cutting
back on my shopping, but this skirt was just destined to be a part of my Easter
look!  I just love it and can already think of a million other ways to style
it!  Now, if the weather will just stay warm enough..!
