Friday's Fancies: Hit the Slopes

It's Friday!! Has this been a long week to anyone else?!
Well, thankfully we've made it and it's time for a little Friday's Fancies!
This week's theme is Hit the Slopes; we're to create an outfit for the perfect
after skiing evening.  Now, I've never been skiing nor to a ski resort of any kind, 
but I'm pretty sure that after a day full of so much physical exertion and lots of falling
down, I would want to be cozy and warm.  So my outfit today is just that - comfy 
in a big slouchy sweater, cozy coat and some super fun boots.  I typically don't
ever like "boots with the fur" however, the placement of the fur on these 
and the playful pom poms that dangle were just too much fun!!

Sometimes I forget what color my hair is until I put an outfit like this 

together and it completely blends in with what I'm wearing.  Oh well! 

At least my hair is that perfect shade of auburn and it blends perfectly with

that generic bobby pin shade!  That's one way to look at it, right?! ;) I just

 couldn't wait any longer to break out a few of those great Target finds I was 

telling you about in this post.  The shoes were only $15 and the hat was

only $6!  I sure do love an end-of-season sale!  Also, I'm finally showing off

my gorgeous clutch from K.slademade!  You may remember when I featured

them as part of my Christmas gift guide in this post.  Well, my mom was 

so kind as to order me one of my own for Christmas!  Thanks Mom!!

I'm so sorry for the lack of outfit posts lately.  My life has been a little 

crazy with the busy season at work beginning (PROM!) and losing daylight 

at such an early hour.  Hopefully I'll get in the swing of things soon because

 I have so many outfits that I'm eager to share!  I promise to do better! :)

I hope you all had an incredible Christmas with your friends and family!

Tyler and I made a very quick trip to see both of our families.  We crammed in as

 much family time and food as we possibly could in about a 24 hour time span and 

then had to get back home for work.  I was really hoping to have some fun holiday 

outfit photos for you, however, I managed to somehow get lipstick on my shirt.  That's

 right, a big red swipe of lipstick on my cream top. Ugh!  I took every photo strategically turned so that it didn't show (just like the photo above!).  Oh well, what's the fun in

 fashion if there aren't the occasional mishaps, right?!

It's been unseasonably warm here in Central Kentucky the last few days. 

Of course, just as I'm beginning to get acclimated, the chill comes right back into

the air.  Thankfully, I had my new Merona cape to keep me warm!  This is the first 

cape to make it's way into my wardrobe and I assure you that it won't be the last!  This thing 

is insanely cozy and I'm a little crazy over the pretty cable knit down the front! And doesn't it 

look great with my [also new!] Merona handbag?!  It was love at first sight with this faux 

suede beauty! What's even better? I scored the cape at 50% off and the bag at 25% off!! 

I'm looking forward to getting lots of use out of them both this winter!

I went a little crazy in Target this weekend.
I really hadn't had a good, thorough Target trip in quite a while
and believe me when I say this one was thorough.  There are just so many 
awesome things in that store right now and, for some reason, I just thought that
I had to bring 99% of it home with me.  So forgive me if all of my new clothes for the 
next little bit have credit given to a Target brand.  I just couldn't help myself!  
I'm not alone in this, am I?  We all need a good Target haul once in a while!  
It's just good for the soul! ;)

I had such a great birthday yesterday!! 

My coworkers spoiled me with presents, lunch, dessert and even a few 

impromptu dance parties to Stevie Wonder's version of the "Happy Birthday"

song!!  And then I had dinner with a mixture of my best friends and coworkers

(who are clearly my best friends too!) at my favorite restaurant - Chuy's!  The 

outfit featured here is what I wore for work.  I'm completely obsessed with this 

J.Crew sweater that my sweet hubby got me!!  Bows are the best!

Friday's Fancies: Black Friday

 a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones!!
Isn't it hard to believe that Black Friday is already here?! 
 For Friday's Fancies this week we're commemorating the kick-off of the 
holiday shopping season with some of our favorite looks based around the color black!  Instead of creating an outfit for you today, I opted to find some fabulous black items that are just dying to be in my closet!  I really can't say enough about each of these pieces; I am literally obsessed with each one!!  My husband and I are both working today, so
neither of us will be partaking in any Black Friday shopping.  If, however,
I find that any of these pieces are greatly discounted, I might have
to consider shopping online! ;)

I'm totally obsessed with this color combination!  

While I am all about wearing the typical "Fall colors" this time of year, 

some days I just crave something a little brighter.  Most of the time that 
includes turquoise but lately orange has been just as much of a go-to for me. 
This classic, preppy look of a sweater layered over a button-up is great to wear 

just about anywhere.  Try mixing these same pieces in different colors and 

patterns for a sharp and easy variation that you can wear to work or play!

It can be really hard to look chic on a rainy day. 

Today was no exception as the morning started off quite rainy and gloomy

here in Central Kentucky.  I turned to some of my trusty rain weather accessories

to help me through the day - and to add some necessary glam to an otherwise day in the 

fashion dumps.  Do you own a great pair of rain boots?  I've had these fun polka dot 

ones since my college years (seriously, has it already been more than 4 years since I

graduated?!).  I'm crushing on several other pairs (some of which are listed in the links!)

but never seem to buy new ones because of how long these suckers last!  If you don't own 

at least one pair, make sure to add them to your list for your next shopping trip!  You have 

no idea how much better a rainy day can be until you've conquered it with dry feet! 

Add a fun umbrella that fits your style and personality, and you're all set for

a glamorous rainy day!

I took some inspiration from my Halloween costume 

to add a little glam to my outfit today.  A fun hat, big sunnies, and a 

wine lip were some of the classic Rachel Zoe staples that I just to break

Friday's Fancies: Sweater Season

It's hard to believe that it's already November! 
 There's no denying the chill in the air here in Central Kentucky; it's definitely
sweater season!  Today I've put together 3 easy Fall looks for you based around 
some pretty amazing sweaters.  Each look mixes a fabulous print with a great 
pop of color to give the outfit that interest it needs to be successful.  Do you 
own any great printed sweaters?  I'm in major need of adding some new 
ones to my wardrobe this season!
